Once you're done, you should be able to put the controller (+adapter fitting) into a 2" PVC pipe and put the screws through the adapter fitting to secure it all together like so. But refer to the second image in step 3 for reference. The size of the bit I used was oversized because I was drilling at an angle on a curved surface, but each 2" PVC pipe should have a pair of holes that the #10 screw can fit through and a pair of holes that the 1/4" screw can fit through.

I also used the rounded file in order to smooth the cutouts down a bit.Īfter making the cutouts for the curvy index controller bit, you can now try to place the controller (& adapter fittings) into the 2" PVC in order to guestimate where you have to drill holes in the 2" PVC in order to install screws that will go through the PVC and the adapter fittings. I used a combination of a drill and a hand saw to get rid of the material so that it looks like this. Then take your controllers (with the adapter fittings) and line it up with your 2" PVC pipes so that you can mark out where you need to cut out to make room for the part of the index controllers that curve out. 1 and 2 are for your right controller while 3 and 4 are for your left controller. This part gets a little less precise, but clamp the adapter fittings to your index controller like so. Refer to that image to figure out where, doesn't need to be identical or precise, just make sure it's through a part of the print that has enough material that it won't be a weak-point in the print.
The hole should be just big enough for the #10 screws to pass go through. You may have noticed already from the image attached in step 1, but you'll need to drill an additional hole in adapter fittings 2 and 4. The infill structure I used was honeycomb and I set the infill density to 50%.
